I am up at 4 a.m. drinking coffee, my night ritual before i head out to cingular wireless for work. I have the news on and their talking about Paris Hilton again and I am amazed at all of the people in the american public that seem to enjoy the misfortunes of the rich and famous. I can tell you this, as a person who has worked in the law enforcement field Paris got a bad deal. In most cases envolving DUIs the defendant rarely is sentenced prison time even in a probation violation. In fact I recall a recent case here in the State of Connecticut where some woman killed a kid while driving drunk. The lady had 11 previous DUIs and had never been sentenced to prison time.

In Paris’s case even the Los Angelos County Sherrif thought the sentence was accessive and thats why he was eager to send Paris home. I am very concerned as a Trained Journalist (Delaware State University) and an American citizen to see the public at large develope opinions and feed into media bullshit about other folks misfortunes. I read the New York Daily News every day and I see the way that publication utilizes sensational journalism to sell news papers. Anyone ever think that what you read might not be true? I think a lot of folk should be thankfull and count their blessings that they dont have the troubles of fame, drug addiction, and their life being played out in the news media which is the case with Paris Hilton. What ever happened to taking care of one another, helping each other, and loving each other. Boy America sure has changed. Until next blog. One Love!
